Rigging

Building on his engineering degree, Stefano identified rigging as a field in which he could meaningfully integrate his expertise in mathematics and physics with his practice in circus arts. He pursued specialised training in circus rigging at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and holds an IRATA Level 1 certification as a rope access technician, qualifying him to work at height in both performance and industrial contexts. He also has a moving working platform license which grants the permission. to drive genie and scissor lift.

In 2024, Stefano was invited to join the teaching faculty for the course Introduction to Rigging within Circus at Stockholm University of the Arts. His contribution focused on  mathematics in rigging, drawing upon his engineering background to provide a technically rigorous component to the course curriculum.

His work experience as a rigger include:

  • The National Centre for Circus Arts, the leading English organisation in contemporary circus
  • Ockham’s Razor, international aerial theatre company specialising in creating physical theatre on original pieces of aerial equipment
  • The Generating Company, internationally recognised for producing original physical and circus productions
  • Oily Cart, multi-sensory and highly interactive company for young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
